Heron is a coral island situated on the Great Barrier Reef, 70 km from Gladstone. It can be reached by boat in 2h, or in 30 min by Helicopter. The island is surrounded by beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear sea. It is a paradise for lovers of nature. The island is classified National Park, in the heart of a marine park and its flora and fauna are protected.
From November to March, turtles come on the beaches to deposit their eggs, and from December you can see the little turtles joining the ocean when hatching. From June to October, the humpback whales pass, and throughout the year, Heron is populated with settlements of thousands of birds. Finally, Heron is believed to be one of the most beautiful sites for scuba diving in the world. Divers will appreciate the richness and variety of its depths: mantas, turtles, groupers, fish of all kinds, and very colorful soft and hard corals.
Snorkeling, scuba diving (courses every Sunday), excursion on Wilson Island, walks in the semi-submersible above the reef, guided walks on the reef at low tide, as well as many other nature-oriented activities.
109 rooms divided into 5 categories. The "Turtle" rooms are very simple with a large double bed and a balcony. The “Reef suites” simple but comfortable, the “Heron suites”, luxurious and roomy, at the edge of the beach, and the “Point suites”, roomy suites with panoramic sight on the sea. Lastly, the “Beach house”, on the beach, with a room and a living room. The rooms Turtle, Heron and Reef offer families rooms for 4 persons.
